Usually its just a battery. All garage door keypads have batteries…. but sometimes finding them is the hardest part.

There is always an access panel, but sometimes they are hidden at the bottom or even on the back against the wall. If the battery is bad for just a few days the code is usually held in memory and all you need to do is replace it and you’re good to go.

If you find the keypad will not open the garage door even after the battery is replaced, you’ll need to have it looked at.

The most common reason is a broken spring on the door. In this case the door will not easily or safely open manually either.

The springs do all of the heavy lifting. The opener just guides the door up or down. If your torsion spring is broken you should call a professional.

There are several possibilities why a garage door will not close, however the most common reason is an obstruction of the safety sensor system.

Most of the time we find that they have been bumped out of alignment, or the lenses have become dusty or dirty and will no longer read the signal.

Usually a quick alignment check or wipe with a damp cloth will solve the problem. If this does not solve the problem it could be an electronic malfunction with the unit, or a mechanical issue with the door.
