Q & A

My Garage Door Remote At My Home In Cincinnati Will Open The Door But I Have To Hold The Button Down to Close – What’s Wrong?

By Steve Penn

We typically find that this is caused by an issue with the safety sensors. They are either:

  • Misaligned;
  • Dirty;
  • Blocked,or;
  • Broken

If this continues, you’ll need to schedule a service call to have us look at the safety sensors for your garage doors.

Call us at (513) 821-5095 if you need assistance in the Greater Cincinnati or Northern Kentucky area.

Why Does My Garage Door At My Home In Cincinnati Keep Opening At Random Times After I Have Closed It?

By Steve Penn

We typically see this caused by a bad remote control.  When they get old, the buttons can get stuck, or they can send random signals.

There are some other rare instances where it can be a short in the wiring, or an electronics problem within the unit.

We have even seen it happen when a homeowner keeps a remote in their purse and it gets bumped around, or there is one in a drawer somewhere and the button is pressed.

If your garage door is giving you fits, give us a call at (513) 821-5095 and we’ll take care of it.

Will I Damage My Garage Door If I Leave It Partially Open For My Cat To Come In and Out?

By Steve Penn

No, stopping the garage door part-way and leaving it there will have no adverse effects on your door or opener.

Where Do I Find The Learn Code Button On My Garage Door Opener?

By Steve Penn

The “Learn Code” button is usually on the back or the side of the garage door opener. On most units, there will be a thin wire antenna hanging down on the side that has the learn button.

If after trying to reset the remotes or keypad, you still cannot get them to operate correctly, you’ll need to have the garage door opener looked at.

Give us a call at (513) 821-5095 if you need help with your garage door opener or remotes.

What Is The Best Material For A Garage Door For A Home In The Greater Cincinnati Area?

By Steve Penn

We usually recommend steel. It works well in our climate because it doesn’t rot or warp like wood. It is very cost effective – much less expensive than wood, easier to install, easier to maintain, and available in many styles and pre-painted colors.

You can also re-paint steel garage doors if you cant find a color you like, or change the color of the exterior of your home.

The Chain Fell Off My Garage Door Opener At My Home In The Cincinnati Area – How Do I Get It back On?

By Steve Penn

There is usually an adjusting screw on most garage door chain-drive units. You can probably just back it off to get some slack, reset it on the sprockets, and tighten it back up. You will probably then need to adjust the limits.

I’d also recommend you check the sprockets for broken or worn teeth. There has to be a reason it came off in the first place.

If the sprockets are bad, you’ll need to have the opener serviced.

Call us at (513) 821-5095 for a no-hassle appointment.
