It’s all about the bottom seals.

There are several sizes and styles of bottom seals that can be installed on today’s garage doors to stop water from getting into the garage.

There is also a rubber threshold that can be glued to the garage floor where it meets the door – this option does require the garage door and opener settings to be adjusted.

If your floor is way-out of level, or water naturally drains to the door, there may be no way of keeping all of the water out, but the above options will limit water leaks.

Unfortunately, when a garage door is dented it usually requires the entire section of the door to be replaced.

Unlike with automobiles, it is not economical to do body work on the door.

Some manufacturers offer and extended range kit for garage door remotes which can be installed on the opener, but they do not always help.

The most common culprits of short range are bad remotes, weak batteries, and interference from other electronic devices nearby.

Also, LED light bulbs in garage door openers are an issue as they can interfere with the remote signals.

Changing a garage door spring is not a difficult job for a garage door technician.

However, garage door springs are under a significant amount of tension and can be very dangerous if they are not handled properly. In fact, we have been called to homes where the owner had to visit the emergency room after trying to change-out a broken garage door spring.

We suggest that homeowners DO NOT work on springs as a DIY project.
