We Unplugged The Garage Door Opener & Now It Won’t Stay Closed – What Now?

By Steve Penn

Unplugging the garage door opener should really have no impact on the door staying closed or not. Plugging it back in is simply powering the unit back-up.

If it’s winter time, check for ice or snow build-up on the ground. Sometimes that will trip the safety system and the door will retract.

If this occurs in the spring, summer or fall, do two things.

If you have the safety system installed (the beam of light on each side of the door near the floor) make sure they are aligned and match, usually giving a green indicator.

Next, if the manual is available, check for adjustments that can be made rather quickly on the opener.

If this does not solve the problem, you will probably need to schedule service. If you’re in the Cincinnati area and need help, give us a call at (513) 821-5095.

Can You Repair The Garage Door Frame & Dented Door Panels If Hit With A Car?

By Steve Penn

If you’re a homeowner or business owner in the Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, or Southeast Indiana area, a car accidentally crashing into your garage door can feel like a major headache. Whether it’s a distracted driver in your driveway or a delivery truck misjudging the loading dock, the damage can leave you wondering: Can the frame and those unsightly dented panels be repaired? The good news is that with the right expertise, many of these issues can be addressed without a complete overhaul. At Cincinnati Door & Window, we’ve been the trusted name in garage door solutions for over 30 years, and we’re here to help you navigate this situation with confidence. Can You Repair A Damaged Garage Door Frame or Panels After They Get Hit By A Car

Assessing the Damage To The Garage Door: What Can Be Fixed?

When a vehicle strikes a garage door, the impact often warps the frame or leaves deep dents in the panels. The frame, which provides the structural backbone for your door, can sometimes be reframed—meaning our skilled technicians can realign or reinforce it to restore its original shape and function.

This process requires precision to ensure the door operates smoothly again, avoiding future jams or safety hazards. However, dents in the panels are a different story. Unlike minor scratches, significant dents can’t simply be “popped” out due to the material’s properties, especially in steel or aluminum doors commonly used in commercial and residential settings.

That said, all hope isn’t lost. If the damaged panel sections are still available from the manufacturer and match your existing door, we can replace those specific parts rather than swapping out the entire unit. This targeted approach saves you time and money, keeping your garage door looking sharp without the expense of a full replacement. For business owners managing warehouses or retail spaces, this can mean minimal downtime, which is critical for keeping operations on track.

Why Cincinnati Door & Window Stands Out

For over three decades, Cincinnati Door & Window has built a rock-solid reputation across the Greater Cincinnati region, including Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana. Our longevity isn’t just about staying in business—it’s about earning the trust of homeowners and business owners alike through consistent, high-quality service.

We understand the unique challenges you face, whether it’s a residential garage door dented by a teenager’s first driving lesson or a commercial door battered by heavy equipment. Our team brings more than 30 years of hands-on experience, ensuring we tackle each job with the know-how that only time can teach.

What sets us apart is our commitment to personalized solutions. When you call us, we don’t just send a generic fix—it’s a tailored assessment. Our technicians will visit your property, evaluate the extent of the frame damage and panel dents, and provide a clear, no-pressure estimate. This upfront transparency is something our customers have come to rely on, knowing they won’t face surprise costs down the line.

The Garage Door Repair Process: What to Expect

Once you give us the green light, our process is designed to get you back to normal as quickly as possible. For reframing, our experts use specialized tools to carefully adjust the frame, ensuring it aligns perfectly with the door’s tracks and opener system.

If panel replacement is needed, we’ll source the exact match for your door model, installing it seamlessly to maintain your door’s aesthetic and functionality. While we can’t remove dents, our focus on replacement parts means you won’t be stuck with a battered look.

For business owners, we know time is money. That’s why we prioritize swift service, often scheduling same-day visits when possible. Homeowners, too, benefit from our efficiency—imagine getting your garage back in action before the next family outing. Plus, our use of durable materials ensures the repair lasts, protecting your investment for years to come.

Beyond the Fix: Ongoing Support

At Cincinnati Door & Window, our relationship with you doesn’t end with the repair. With over 30 years in the community, we’ve learned that preventative care is key. After fixing your door, we can offer advice on maintenance or even set up a schedule to check your system regularly. This proactive approach helps avoid future accidents, saving you from bigger headaches—and costs—down the road.

Looking For Quick Release Carriage Part In Greater Cincinnati For Overhead Garage Door Opener Model 1000A

By Steve Penn

Unfortunately, the part you are looking for is no longer available from the manufacturer.

You may have luck finding the part on Ebay or Craigslist – or perhaps you can find it at a used parts dealer.

Our only option would be to replace the Overhead Garage Door Opener unit with a new one.

I Need To Replace The Bottom Panel On My Wood Garage Door – Can You Help?

By Steve Penn

We can, and will replace your wood sections or panels on a garage door, if we can have matching sections made for them by the original manufacturer.

Most people choose not to nowadays, because all wood garage doors and panels are special order, very expensive (sometimes more than a new door), have long build-times (up to 12 weeks), and they need to be painted after installation.

Let us know if you would like to schedule an estimate and discuss your options after we see the door.

The Bottom Of My Garage Door “Catches” And Will Not Open Or Close – Is It Possible To Have The Bottom Section Replaced?

By Steve Penn

If the door is still manufactured, we can replace the bottom section in most cases.

If you can find a manufacturers sticker(usually on the side of one the sections) on the door with make and model number we can find out if the door is still available.

If it is, you’re good to go. One issue we do see when doing this is that because the new section is right from the factory, the color will not be an exact match to the existing door sections because they are weathered. So painting the entire door will likely have to be done.

Do You Carry Chamberlain Parts?

By Steve Penn

Yes, we carry replacement parts for Chamberlain garage door openers. And as far as we know, there are only a handful of companies in Cincinnati that do.

If you are a do-it-yourself type of person, give us a call for the part you need, and if it is not in stock we can order it for you if it is still currently made by the manufacturer.

Or if you need professional help, let us know and we’ll run out and make the repair.
