Project Overview
This Deer Park project transformed a worn concrete patio into a cleaner and more durable outdoor living surface. Because exterior concrete must withstand sunlight, moisture, temperature swings, and freeze-thaw cycles, careful preparation and an outdoor-rated coating system were central to the work.
Preparing and Repairing the Concrete
Our technicians mechanically diamond-ground the patio to remove surface contaminants, residual coatings, and weak material while opening the concrete pores. This created the surface profile needed for a strong bond between the slab and the coating system.
We also filled minor cracks, pits, and spalled areas with high-strength repair compounds before grinding the repairs flush. The completed preparation produced a consistent substrate without loose material that could undermine the finish.
Applying the Decorative Coating System
We applied a heavy-duty resinous base coat followed by a full broadcast of decorative color flakes. The flake layer supplies the finished texture and appearance while adding slip resistance and impact durability for routine patio use.
The system was sealed with a UV-stable topcoat designed to resist sunlight exposure, water penetration, staining, and routine outdoor wear. The nonporous finish also makes the patio easier to clean and maintain.
