Replacing The Garage Door Track When Replacing The Garage Door In Cincinnati

It is definitely recommended to change the tracks when putting a new garage door in. A track is not that expensive, and each is designed to support the specific weight of a door. In other words, if your new door is heavier than the old one, you’re looking at having a major issue down the line.

Garage doors also come in different thicknesses as well. If your garage door track is not set-back the proper distance your door will either wedge in the opening, or sit-back too far and leave wide gaps.

Some track is adjustable, but it usually takes a lot longer to modify old garage door track than it does to replace it.

Additionally, your new track will also come with a warranty.

How Do I Know If My Garage Door Is Properly Balanced?

There are just a couple of steps you do yourself to see if the garage door is balanced.

First you need to disconnect the garage door opener. Do this with the door in the down position. If the door is not balanced properly and you dis-engage the opener while it is open, the door may slam to the ground causing serious injury.

Next, slowly open the door by hand stopping about every 18″. The garage door should not slam down, or run up on its own. A little drifting is okay, but if it is well balanced, the garage door should run smoothly through the entire cycle.

if you notice issues, it’s time to get the door looked at – it might need some repair work.

If you need repair work done on your garage door and live in the Cincinnati area, give us a call at (513) 821-5095.

How Do I Dispose Of My Old Garage Door?

We provide that service for free with any garage door replacement job.

All of the steel we remove gets recycled.

If you are doing a DIY project you will probably need to haul it to a dump and pay to dispose of it, or cut it up in small enough pieces for the trash service to take.

Find A Professional Garage Door Installer or Dealer In The Cincinnati Area

We suggest three ways to find a garage door company that does good work and that you can trust (for that matter, do this for any contractor).

One, get a referral from family or friends.

Two, check the Better Business Bureau.

And three, join Angie’s List. It might be the best $15 you ever spent.

Be sure to do due diligence in your research because there are a lot of folks out there with a website and a cell phone who make themselves look like a real garage door installer….. when they are not.

If you live in the Cincinnati area and need a new garage door or repairs to existing doors, give us a call at (513) 821-5095 for a free, no sales-hype estimate.

Can I Install My Own Garage Door Or Should I Hire A Professional?

Unless you’ve installed garage doors before, you should have a pro handle it.

A garage doors can be large and heavy and because of the large number of parts, installation of a garage door is not that simple to get it right. Connecting the springs can be dangerous, and proper installation is critical to the performance of your door.

Reputable garage door dealer/installers typically install a door in a matter of hours and are careful to make sure safety requirements are met.

Installations by homeowners can take several days and cause much frustration. Also, improper installation can void warranties, so we recommend a trained garage door installer. Most garage door dealers can provide the disposal of your old garage door as well.

If you’re in the market for a new garage door or opener and live in the Cincinnati area, give us a call at (513) 821-5095.

Will A New Garage Door Keep All Of The Water Out Of My Garage?

Garage doors are designed to sit flat on the ground. A new, properly installed and adjusted garage door normally keeps most water out, however, heavy rains, blowing rains, or driveways that slope down to the garage door will sometimes allow water to seep in.

If you have water entering your garage, you could need new seals or the garage door needs to be adjusted.

If those remedies don’t work, it might be time to consider a new door.
